The Challenge:
Managing Complexity Across Partners and Products

As a leading distributor in the industrial and manufacturing sector, Brd. Klee A/S faced growing challenges in managing digital operations across multiple partners and product lines.

With over 200,000 products in its catalogue and a network of partner shops that each needed their own digital storefront, the company needed a modern, scalable eCommerce infrastructure that could bring everything under one roof.

Key challenges included limited control and consistency across partner webshops and product data, with manual and time-consuming processes for data management and enrichment. Partners had no efficient way to independently manage their own product catalogues and storefronts, and the integration between the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O) and the main klee.dk webshop was inefficient - leading to delayed updates and redundant data handling. Self-service capabilities for B2B customers, such as order tracking, access to sales agreements, and up-to-date pricing and inventory, were either missing or inadequate.

The Solution:
A Unified Digital Platform for Scalable Growth

Brd. Klee chose Truvio's All-in-One platform, combining eCommerce, PIM, and Content Management in a single solution. The project was structured in two phases to manage risk and deliver early value.

Phase 1 - Core eCommerce Foundation

The first phase focused on establishing the main Brd. Klee eCommerce solution as a minimum viable product, built primarily on standard Truvio Commerce functionality and the Swift frontend framework, enabling a low-code approach that minimized the need for custom development. This included full integration with Dynamics 365 F&O, a modern B2B web platform supporting customer self-service, product browsing, and ordering, and configuration of core modules for product catalogues, customer management, Swift design templates, and content management. Base integrations were set up for customers, orders, addresses, price lists, and sales agreements, synchronized with the ERP.

A rich set of B2B self-service features was implemented to reduce manual workload and empower customers directly:

  • Order history pulled directly from the ERP, listing orders with full detail - order number, web order number, PO reference, buyer, and seller, with drill-down to individual order lines showing item number, ordered quantity, dispatched quantity, remaining quantity, and gross/net price.

  • Favorite lists shared across all contacts within a customer account, with the ability to add items and create new lists directly from the product detail page. Items on favorite lists are visually marked throughout the shop.

  • Sales agreement access, displaying frame agreements with ID, expiration date, reference, and seller, with drill-down to covered items showing quantity, released quantity, and remaining quantity. Orders containing agreement items are automatically flagged when sent to F&O.

  • A smart checkout flow with warnings when ordered quantity exceeds available stock, compliance with minimum and multiple order settings from the ERP, web discount display, delivery address selection and creation (synced to F&O) which are included in the order confirmation.

  • Customer-specific item numbers synced from External Item Description in F&O, displayed on product list and detail pages, and searchable.

  • Net/gross price toggling for dealers, with the option controlled by F&O. Dealers see net prices by default and can toggle to gross; end customers see only gross prices.

Additional features included a dealer map with filtering (synced from F&O), a synonym dictionary for search (based on PIM meta-fields), drawing forms on product pages, order catalogue request forms, and vendor stock number imports via CSV upload or FTP on a scheduled basis.

Phase 2 - Shop-in-Shop Implementation

The second phase delivered the shop-in-shop framework, the heart of the partner empowerment model. This was built at three levels:

First, dedicated ECOM warehouses for each partner, giving them a separate, shielded environment to create, enrich, and publish their own products. Each partner warehouse is deliberately streamlined to keep onboarding efficient, supporting a defined set of product attributes, groups, and facets within a single data source and language. The setup includes workflow rules, completeness and inheritance rules, and asset configuration. PIM dashboards were built to give both Brd. Klee and partners a targeted overview of their own product data - a partner cannot see Brd. Klee's products and vice versa.

Second, individual partner shops and branded websites - each partner gets their own group structure and Swift-based website, which Brd. Klee can duplicate and customize with partner-specific color palettes, fonts, and logos. Product pages and lists are functionally standardized to Brd. Klee's requirements, while partners can style and extend their own presentation. The shop structure consists of a core group managed by Brd. Klee, plus an adjacent area the partner can configure for their own products.

A strict permission model ensures complete data isolation: partners cannot access other partners' products, warehouses, data, shops, or websites. Brd. Klee retains centralized oversight while partners enjoy full independence within their own environment.

"With the partner solution, we've created a strong balance between central control and partners' freedom to develop their own digital business."

The Integration:
Connecting Systems and Partners

The architecture is built on an integration between Truvio Commerce and Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O, using both scheduled batch synchronizations and real-time lookups via the Truvio Commerce Integration Framework.

Truvio Commerce supports two ways of interacting with F&O: a bespoke add-in for scenarios requiring specific F&O logic, and interaction with the built-in OData service layer for more generic data access.

The data flows cover the full B2B commerce lifecycle:

  • Products are created in Truvio PIM and transferred to F&O on a scheduled interval.
  • Prices are retrieved in batches from F&O.

  • Inventory is retrieved in batches from F&O.

  • Customers and contacts are created and maintained in F&O and transferred to Truvio Commerce as users on a schedule. New users receive an automatically generated password. New contacts created by company administrators in Truvio Commerce are synced back to F&O.
  • Orders are placed in Truvio Commerce, transferred to F&O under the customer account, and order history is retrieved from the ERP for self-service access.
  • Sales agreements and their details are transferred to Truvio Commerce for order marking and fetched on demand for display in the customer cockpit.
  • Addresses flow from F&O to Truvio Commerce, and new addresses created in Truvio Commerce sync back to F&O.

  • Currencies and exchange rates are transferred from F&O.
  • Customer-specific item numbers, dealer groupings, and partner dealers are all synced from F&O.

The Result:
A Scalable, Partner-Driven Commerce Model

With Truvio Commerce, Brd. Klee successfully transitioned to a digitally scalable and partner-driven business model.

  • Enhanced partner autonomy: Partners now manage their own digital presence, product data, and storefronts independently, reducing Brd. Klee's administrative workload significantly.

  • Centralized control and data quality: The Truvio PIM ensures consistent, enriched product data across all shops and websites, while supporting full customization per partner.

  • Operational efficiency: Automated data synchronization with Dynamics 365 eliminates redundant manual work and ensures accuracy across systems. B2B self-service features - order history, sales agreements, profile management, favorites - shift routine tasks from internal staff to customers.

  • Scalable growth: The modular shop-in-shop setup enables Brd. Klee to onboard new partners quickly by duplicating a proven template rather than building from scratch, accelerating digital expansion without adding complexity.

  • Unified platform advantage: By combining eCommerce, PIM, CMS, and ERP integration within a single platform, Brd. Klee gained a future-proof foundation for digital business.

This transformation has set a new standard for how manufacturers and wholesalers can empower their partner ecosystems while maintaining full visibility, control, and brand consistency across the digital value chain.
